RADIOLOGY VR DEMO
This demo was created to communicate the scope of what Tempus can build to potential partner health networks. It showcases Tempus | AIR, a new platform that delivers outputs from advanced cardiology algorithms—such as predictions for atrial fibrillation and overall mortality risk—directly to providers.
I collaborated closely with cardiologists and machine learning experts at Tempus, and incorporated feedback from external sales conversations to ground the experience in real partner needs. The demo is iterated on with internal clinicians and external partners and will inform the future technical build of the product.
The goal of this demo was to give physicians the sense of monitoring a patient’s tumors over time. The work involved close collaboration with the radiology science lead and a contract 3D artist. As the sole designer, I set the visual direction, designed the UI, shaped the experience and narrative, and directed interaction and sound design.
This was a fast-paced sprint completed over a few weeks and remains a compelling demo for partner conversations. It’s not every day you get to quite literally “grab” a tumor.
The demo was built in Unity and experienced using a VIVE headset with UltraLeap hand tracking, allowing natural, hands-on interaction without controllers. Wireframes were created in Sketch.
Due to confidentiality, I’m unable to share full demos or in-experience visuals.
The demo followed a single patient across three CT scans, each showing progression of multiple myeloma over time. Physicians could move through the patient’s medical timeline, viewing scan events and associated Tempus reports.
Using hand-tracked interaction, users controlled life-size body models, selected tumor hotspots, and examined to-scale 3D tumor renderings generated from real CT data. Inspired by Westworld but grounded in real science, the demo showcased how 3D reconstruction and algorithms can transform how clinicians understand tumor progression over time.
